HybriX Franklin
Location
Massenhoven
The HybriX Massenhoven project is a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) located in the Antwerp region. With a total capacity of 35 MW and 4 hours of storage, the installation can supply the equivalent of the average daily electricity consumption of approximately 15,700 households.
The project consists of 30 battery containers, supported by medium-voltage transformers and inverters, as well as a high-voltage transformer and AIS field, forming a robust and efficient energy infrastructure.
Strategically positioned less than 500 metres from the 150 kV Elia substation in Massenhoven, the site enables an efficient connection to the electricity grid and supports optimal system performance.
Construction of the project started in March 2026, with commissioning planned for 2027. Once operational, the installation will play a key role in enhancing grid flexibility, supporting renewable energy integration, and contributing to a more stable and resilient energy system.
